Ask a question:

How to Find Your Web Browser Version

Solution When reporting bugs, you may be asked your web browser software's name and version.

The name of the browser should be obvious. Popular browsers include Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Opera. The software name will be listed when it starts up and should appear in your top of screen menu bar (Mac OS X) or bottom of screen task bar (Windows).

To determine the version number, perform the following.

In Mac OS X, click on the application name next to the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen. Then select "About XXX". In this example, XXX may be "Firefox" or "Google Chrome". Then, in the popup box, you should see a version number.

In Windows, click the "Help" menu from the browser toolbar. Then, "About XXX" where XXX is the browser name. The popup display should give you the browser version number.
